James Dean Caruso is a Los Angeles based artist whose work is driven by a desire to engage with and evolve within the living world. His intricate drawings and paintings employ a densely detailed mark-making technique that produces realized landscapes of movement, expansion and volume. The organic forms developed through this repetitive process are inspired by passages of time and the progession of growth as experienced by organisms in their respective environments. Themes of solitude, wonder, intuition and intimacy as well as perseverance and the desire to find connection and harmony with something greater than the self are explored through the ritual and endurance of his practice.
